Countdown To Christmas: Skoodlez

Another affordable toy out there on the markets this year can be purchased at Macy’s. At $14.99, Skoodlez makes a great toy for your kids or a grab bag, and can be given to kids 4 – 12. The stuffed animal has weighed down hands and feet, so you can easy pose them and hang them.  The cool part is that there is a coin handing around the stuffed animals neck.  You take the code off the coin and use that to access the online world.  On the site, children are challenged to create their own stories.  There are three different settings, so you can taylor it to your child’s age.  Beginner is from 4 – 6, medium is from 7 – 9, and advanced is 10 – 12.  When they finish their story, they can share them Skoodlez community.  They can also print them out.

This makes the perfect gift for the kid who has everything.  The Everday Skoodlez line includes fifteen animals:  hippo, cat, dog, mouse, duck, lion, tiger, leopard, panda, bear, zebra, giraffe, monkeys, and elephant.  There is also twenty four holiday ones.  They is definitely something here for everyone.

Countdown To Christmas: The Runaway Dolls

The Runaway Dolls is the third book in the The Doll People series.  Passed down from generation to generation, the Doll family has lived in the same dollhouse for 100 years. While the world outside has changed, their own lives have not except for a few things.  These “things” are what the stories are about. This book is about Annabelle Doll, and she thinks she found her long lost sister.  Instead of taking the risk of getting sent in package back to England, they run away.  This story is about their pitfalls while they are on the run.  I love that the illustrations look like somebody grabbed a pencil and drew on the pages. For me, it just sucks you into the story even more.  This book is for 9 – 12 year olds and is definitely a hit in my book.

Countdown To Christmas: World Of Cars

Are your kids a fan of the movie Cars? If so, World Of Cars is a must have book in your house. This book tells you the back story of all the cars in the movie Cars. The illustrations are awesome and just like the movie, so they pull your kids right in. The stories are very engaging.  If you were ever wondering how Mater lost his hood, this book will tell you!  There is even a map showing  Guido and Luigi’s crazy road trip across the United States!  The stories are broken down into five chapters, so you can easily read one a night for a bedtime story.  This book makes a great accompaniment to the movie, and I highly recommend it.

Countdown To Christmas: The Hidden World Of Fairies

With the new Tinkerbell movie that has come out, fairies are now very popular again. Madison’s room is actually Tinkerbell themed, so we are all about fairies here. This is one of the most unique books out there. It is written along the lines of it being a journal rather than a book. This isn’t Tinkerbell’s journal either — this is Wendy’s.  This is about Wendy’s journey to Pixie Hollow (which is where the fairies live).   On one page of the journal, there is a popout that is the map of Pixie Hollow.  Throughout the journal, we get to learn about all different kinds of fairies, and we also learn that each fairy has a different kind of magic.  Almost every page has something for the reader to do.  The Hidden World Of Fairies is a book that is great for any little (or even older) girl who likes fairies.
