Having grown up on Nancy Drew, I love that they’ve come out with a whole line of games that incorporate her into it. It’s great seeing a girl with strong self esteem and brains. I love that my daughter has a strong character to look up to.  This game has you going to a prep school (and all that entails like cramming for tests and cliques.  You even have a cell phone that’s equipped with a camera.) while you are solving a mystery.  Nancy Drew’s job is to find out who is responsible for the pranks that have been occurring.  You quickly learn that the pranks are being targeted against valedictorian candidates.  My favorite feature of this game is that if you manage to get yourself killed, you automatically start over at the point you made your fatal mistake.  This game is rated E for everyone.  It has two difficulty settings (Jr or Sr Detective), so almost anyone can play this.

A great fun game to play with your family has to be You’ve been Sentenced! It’s for 8 and up, but with some help, even your new reader can play it.  Each player gets 10 cards.  You take your ten cards and make a sentence that makes sense.  Your sentence then goes to the jury — that is, your fellow players.  You have to justify why it makes sense to score.  Some of the sentence you are forced to make up are pretty funny.  It really makes you think fast and having to justify your sentence makes you have to think even faster!  The game comes with 540 cards that are five sided, so you have hours and hours of unique games ahead of you!  If you manage to make it through all of the cards, there are even add on decks!  You can add on the Reader’s Digest National Word Power Challenge, Gourmet Cuisine, Pop Culture (this is our personal favorite), Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and Sports Highlights.

You’ve Been Sentenced is a game that is fun for any child or adult who can read!

I love fun multiplayer games and this fits that!  The Munchables are hungry creatures looking for things to eat.  The goal is to eat as many enemies as possible and grow as big as you can (you grow by eating, but so do your enemies).  You can eat everything from chocolate to vegetables to fruit.  The names of the characters in this game will make you laugh:  Eggplanter, Space Shroom and Rice Baller (just to name a few).  You can play in regular time, reverse, or time attack mode, so this game never gets boring.  You can even accessorize your character!  The controls are simple enough for Madison (my five year old).  A feature that I really like is that once you’ve beaten the game, it actually shows you all the acorns (which you need to accessorize) you missed!

The Munchables is great for young and old alike!  We will spend countless hours eating your vegetable, laughing, and having fun!

One of the funnest and funniest games that is coming out for Christmas is Giraffalaff Limbo.  Not only will your kids be giggling but you will be too!  This isn’t like any Limbo you’ve ever played though.  You have to spin the wheel and find out which silly animal walk you have to do under the limbo bar.  It you hit the bar, it’ll start giggling at you, and you are out of the game!  Is it silly?  Definitely!  Will your kids love it?  Yes!  You will have your kids constantly yelling at you to watch them do their silly walk.  The limbo bar is made out of foam, so you have no worries about anyone getting hurt.  I love that this game is more about having fun than who wins or who loses.  It also helps your little ones with their coordination.

If you want hours of giggling, Giraffalaff Limbo definitely fits the bill!

We are always on the lookout here for great Wii games for Madison (my 5 year old) to play. Wii is designed for kids, but we often find her getting stuck on the kids games.  However, the first great thing I have to say about Birthday Party Bash is that she doesn’t get stuck.  She actually has never asked us for help yet.  I love a game that doesn’t frustrate her to the point of crying.  I have to admit this is one the most unique games out there that I’ve seen.  When you open the game, there are actually invitations, so you can invite your friends over to play and celebrate your birthday.  When playing this game, you have several options.  First, you can choose to decorate a room for the party.  You can choose everything from a pirate theme to a princess theme, and there is really everything in between too.  There’s even a cake in the game!  I do have to admit that my favorite part is the 20 party games you can play.  They range from Pinata Blast, Duncan Hines Cake Stacker, and Birthday Blowout.  However, Madison’s favorite game is the rocking climbing one.  I am pretty sure it is, because she beats everybody every time.

If you are looking for a great game for younger kids, I highly recommend this.  It makes a great Christmas or birthday present.
