Web Hosting

If you read my other blog, you will know of the hosting issues I have had in the past.  I had been using Bluehost as my hosting sevice, but due to several issues I had with them I had to change hosting companies.  My first issue had to do with CPU errors.  My favorite part of this was that they didn’t even know what their own reports meant!  Their solution to everything was that I needed to upgrade my plan to one that costed 3 times as much a month.  When I asked if that would solve my problem, the response I got was that they didn’t know.  Hmm, so I should upgrade my plan, and you don’t know if that will solve my problems.  I think not.  I was also getting a ton of mySQL errors too.  These errors often were causing my CPU issues.  The only solution I got from Bluehost to resolve my issues was to delete my old blog posts and put them on a static page.  I waited 2 weeks for that answer!  Obviously, I would not recommend Bluehost to anyone.

Now, if you ever find yourself having the problems I was with your host, check out this webhosting blog. There is some definite wisdom to be gleaned from here like webhosting mistakes to avoid and what type of hosting you need.

Best Buy

Best Buy is one of my most favorite stores.  Usually.  However, last night was an entirely different story (and this review is actually going to be more like rant instead).  On Sundays, Best Buy closes at 7.  I personally thought I had plenty of time.  What I didn’t know was that out of the three people in the computer department, 2 of them were new.  Interesting times, let me tell you.  In the amount of time it took me to get waited on, I could have seriously taken a CDL training course.  The other thing is that I went looking there for a desktop.  This weeks ad had a ton of them in there.  Surprise, Surprise.  Of all the desktops that had in their ad, they had 1 in stock.  Yes, 1 in stock.  They had some not in their ad but the CPUs along were over $1,000.  Ummm, no thanks.  I ended up walking out of Best Buy at 8:00 pm — one hour after they closed due to their employees having no training!

Teddy Bear’s Fun to Learn First 1000 Words

Teddy Bear’s Fun to Learn First 1000 Words is book that is great for all little ones. My 4 year old enjoys it just as much as my 1 year old. Granted, you won’t find las vegas hotels in here. However, there is pretty much everything else. Each page in the book has a theme (like the beach). It lists the theme and a ton of items to go with it (for example, the beach pages show things like sunscreen, water wings, sailboat, beachball, etc). There is also a picture in the center of the page with all the miscellaneous items.  There is also a short poem asking you questions about the theme.  Will (my one year old) just likes to look at everything and go “ohhhh”.  Madison (my 4 year old) enjoys looking at the pictures and telling us what each thing is.  She likes to answer the questions for us too.  My only complaint is that the pages are paper which are a little to easy for Will to rip.

This book is great because your little ones can use it as they grow older.  I would definitely purchase it a birthday, baby shower, and/or Christmas gift.  The little ones who you are getting for will get a lot of use out of it!

Sony Cybershot

One of best cameras I have owned is the Sony Cybershot. It is awesome that you don’t have to carry around a ton of luggage to take this camera with you.  You can easily slide this slick phone into either your purse or your pocket.  The 4GB of internal memory can store up to 40,000 VGA-quality photos or 1,000 8-megapixel pictures.  You seriously don’t need a memory card to make this camera work.  You also don’t need to read the manual that comes with to make it work.  The part that impressed me the most is that the pictures are awesome.
This camera takes the best pictures of any of the digital ones that I owned before this. On my other blog, I chronicled my entire basement remodel using this camera. I use this camera when we are out and about with the kids.  The menu is done by touchscreen, so you don’t have forty thousands buttons to figure out.  If you are in the market for a new point and shoot camera, I highly recommend a Sony Cybershot!
