My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure

my little ponyI love when toys from when I was kid come back for my kids. My sister and I loved My Little Pony. Madison has a couple of them too. Will loves to brush their hair. Now, My Little Pony has a new DVD that has come out called Twinkle Wish Adventure. It is about the ponies waiting for the Winter Wishes festival. The Wishing Star there grants each pony one wish.  However, it goes missing and the ponies have to find it!  The movie is about the journey they take and what they learn along the way.  My kids loved the movie.  They loved the extras too!

This DVD is jam packed with extras too.  There are two extra stories on here (Elefun & Friends and Waiting For The Winter Wishes Festival).  There is also 6 sing along songs (My Little Pony theme, The Thing-A-Ma-Do Song, Dreams Do Come True, Somewhere Super New, That’s What Makes A Friend, an A Wonderful Winter Song) and 4 downloadable activities (coloring sheet, note to Santa, How to Make a Snowman, and even pony cut out ornaments).

This DVD is full of great things and would make a great Christmas present to any My Little Pony fan.  They will spend hours with this DVD and all its related activities!

Boca Beth

BocaBethBeginnerBackpack-BMadison is very much into learning Spanish, so checking out Boca Beth was right up our alley.   This program was created by a teacher, translated by native Spanish-speaking early childhood experts, and has been used successfully in preschools, public schools and homes for more than six years.  The video is a true bilingual presentation – meaning English is placed right alongside Spanish for an easy point of reference for both your children and you.  I love that they cover every type of learner – music for the auditory learner, DVDs for the visual learner, musical shakers and puppets for the kinesthetic / tactile learning and coloring/activity books for the beginning reading.  I also love that they have gone green in the packaging of our music CDs and DVDs. The eco-friendly packaging features 100% recycled paper and 100% vegetable based inks.

So what do you get when you order this?  Everything is contained in a see-thru vinyl child-sized backpack.  The kids loved that here (anything involving a backpack is really cool to them).  There’s also a  music CD called My First Songs in Spanish.  It’s great to play in your car and your kids don’t even realize they are learning. There also is the DVD I Like Animals.  My kids really liked the video.  Will enjoyed the animals (especially the monkeys), and Madison liked that she knew a lot of the songs they were singing.  BOCA the lovable puppet was also a huge hit.  What kid doesn’t like puppets?  The coloring book also was nice, because it is just another way to immerse them into Spanish.

As a mom, I liked that my kids were learning and never even realized it.  Nothing was forced upon them and they enjoyed playing with all of the Boca Beth products!

The Peter Yarrow Songbook: Let’s Sing Together!

51nsbDcNq-L._SL160_If you are looking for song to sing no matter where you are, then The Peter Yarrow Songbook: Let’s Sing Together! book and CD is just what you need.  This book includes songs of land and sea, hope and encouragement, and loss and joy.  As you can see, they pretty much cover everything.  My kids enjoy singing, so this book is a welcome addition in our house.

The illustrations in this book are awesome and truly convey the meaning of each song.  I love that they have the lyrics for each song, so you can sing along too.  Many of these songs I already knew, but didn’t know all the words.  You will find a lot of classics that you know such as My Boonie Lies Over The Ocean and John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.  There are some other songs that are just as good as the classic that I hadn’t heard of before like I’m On My Way and Hey Lolly Lolly.  I also love that at the end of the book there is a listing with each song that has the chords to use for each song.

This book, The Peter Yarrow Songbook: Let’s Sing Together!, is a great book for you and your family to enjoy together.  I know my family did.

Hip Hop Baby Review and Giveaway!

This contest is over. The winner is Lily Kwan! Congrats!

519sgqsny3l_sl160_If you want a great video series that will get your kids out of the chair and exercising, Hip Hop Baby is the video series for you! It is for ages 2-6, and from the testing I have done at my house, it works every time. Each DVD encourages physical activity, dance, and movement. It also teaches kids to follow instructions.  The songs are about things like healthy eating, exercise, daily routines, ABCs, numbers, and animals.  I personally loved that the kids weren’t chorographed for this.  Each child was able to do their own dance while they were singing the songs.  The songs aren’t the normal annoying high pitched singing either.  It’s just regular kids singing songs that you know like Head Shoulders Knees & Toes and Carrots Peas & Broccoli.  There were some new songs too.  My kids literally got up and danced from the time it started to the end of the video.  The DVD is about 30 minutes long, so it is great for kids of all attention spans. There are 4 DVDs so far in the Hip Hop Baby Series.

Since I know how hard it is to get your kids up and dancing, I have arranged to give away Hip Hop Baby:  All Your Child’s Favorites DVD and CD!  Here’s what you need to do:

Countdown To Christmas: The Whistle On The Train

I love The Whistle on the Train!  This is a must have book for everyone!  Remember the “wheels on the bus” song?  Well, this book is just like that!  You’ll read (sing) the “the whistle on the train goes whoo whoo whoo” and “the wheel on the train go clackety clack” and “the gates at the crossing go ding ding ding”.  Not only does it teach your child about trains, it is a pop up book!  They get to see in a 3D format what the train looks like and how they operate (to a degree).  My one year old giggle and says “ohhhhhhhh” every time you turn the page in the his book.  It is one of the most unique books out there.  My four year old likes it, because well, we sing the story.  She knows the “wheels on the bus” song, so changing the words a bit hasn’t phased her at all.  This book is hours of fun, so I hope you’ll be putting it under your tree this Christmas.
