Did you know that the American Academy of Pediatrics announced today that children should get double the usually recommended amount of vitamin D because of evidence that it may help prevent serious diseases? What does this mean? Millions children will need to take vitamin D supplements to reach the new recommendation of 400 units daily (up from 200).
I know there are parents all around who are wondering how to get this additional amount of Vitamin D now into their children. The best source of vitamin D is sunlight because the body makes vitamin D when sunshine hits the skin. However, if you like in a state like me (Illinois), we don’t often go out in the winter, because it is way too cold. The only way most children are going to be able to get this much vitamin D is too supplement it.
I luck out that my daughter takes vitamins without a problem. However, my cousin’s daughter will not take anything. An easy way to get the vitamins into your kids is to use Emergen-C Kidz Complete Multi Vitamin and Multi Mineral Supplements. For kids 4 and older, all you do is add a packet of Emergen-C Kidz to 4 - 6 ounces of water and stir. For kids 2-3, use a half a packet with 2-4 oz of water. Emergen-C Kidz has 24 essential nutrients including choline, 500 mg of vitamin C, and 400 IU of vitamin D. It also has beta carotene, vitamin E, zinc, iron, and phosphorus (there are several more vitamins too!). If you notice, Emergen-C Kidz offers more health boosting vitamin C than the leading brand to help support their immune systems. It is available in major grocery stores and drug chains and in health food stores.
This passed the kid test in my house. We tried the orange pineapple explosion, and Madison drank it in one sitting. She like the flavor and wanted more after she was finished. If that flavor doesn’t sound like something you’d be interested in, this also comes in Strawnana Berry and Cherry Yumberry (ok, I can’t even type that without giggling a little. Your kids will love those name as much as I do.
Your kids will like their fizzy drink and think they are getting a treat, and you, as a mom, will know that they are getting all the vitamins and minerals they need. I promise, I’ll keep it our little secret.

I love getting products to try out on my husband. Bethesda Sunscreen Soap is one of those products that I got to do the husband test on. My husband is very, very, very sensitive to fragrance. He is sensitive to the point he actually holds his breath through the perfume department at stores otherwise he can’t breathe. I can’t even have perfume in the house. He is also very sensitive to soaps and lotions with fragrences. That is why I had him try this out. It has a light scent. However, he could use it and still be able to breathe. He like it because even though it was scented it didn’t have a “girly” smell to it. I liked it, because it made him smell nice. I also like it, because there is sunscreen with an spf of 10 in it. In the summer, we all tend to remember to use sunscreen. However, we often forget in the fall and the winter that it is just as important to wear it then too. I like that you can give yourself a layer of protection doing something you do everyday anyway. It also is all-natural, non-oily, and hypo-allergenic. This is great for people like me who have sensitivities to soaps. It is nice to be able to use a product and not have to worry about breaking out in hives. This soap also promotes healthy skin — it has over 50 minerals and vitamins in it. You will find your skin more soft and less dry after using this.
If you want to protect your skin without thinking about it, try out Bethesda Sunscreen Soap.

I am a diehard Pampers fan. My kids are pee machines, and no other diaper held up better than Pampers. My favorite Pampers diapers have to be the Pampers Swaddlers. Now, I am super excited to announce that Pampers has a new Swaddlers on the market. They are called Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive. These diapers are both hypoallergenic and very gentle for your babies skin. These are definitely for the little ones with super sensitive skin or were born with diaper rash (yes, I know children who it looked like were born with diaper rash). These are super soft diapers; it would be surprised if you could find another diaper out there soft like this. The absorb away liner is awesome. It truly does keep the wetness away from the baby’s little butt. The sides of this diaper are also ultra breathable and soft and stretchy. You can actually take the sides of the diaper and blow through them and still feel your breath. Why is this important? My kids would get pricky heat rashes where the sides are with other diapers — never with pampers. I have to think the breathablility helped prevented this. Though, I have to say that I think the most awesome part of these new diapers is the what I like to call “The Pee Indicator”. Nothing is more frustrating than when you can’t tell if they went in the diaper or not. It will look like it, but not feel like, and then you end up doing a poll of the room to see if you should change your little one. Pampers Wetness Indicator (that’s what they like to call it) is a strip on the outside of the diaper that changes from yellow to blue when your baby is wet. No more guessing!
Now, Pampers was kind enough to send me a pack of the Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive diapers to giveaway to one of my lucky readers! This pack has 34 diapers in it and are a Size 2 (which is 12-18 lbs). What do you have to do win this?
