I remember back in the day (and I may be dating myself here) when almanacs were boring. You used them for school projects (when you needed to) and never looked at it again.  All I have to say is that my kids have it way better!  I have to admit I was excited to check out the National Geographic Kids 2010 Almanac.  The cover alone makes you want to look inside and find interesting facts.  What surprised me most was that my husband sat in his chair and read the almanac for himself one night.  I knew my kids would love it, but my husband got drawn in too!

My two year old likes the pictures.  We’ve been able to take the book and work it into his speech and get him to say a few more words.  My 6 year old also enjoyed the pictures.  However, she liked the facts too.  Both my kids loved the section on dinosaurs and loved finding pictures of snakes to show my husband (who is NOT a fan of snakes at all.  I love that we all found this book great!  This book is just full of knowledge (which will come in handy for my next game of Trivia Pursuit!).  National Geographic Kids 2010 Almanac is definitely a book that’s hard to put down once you open it no matter what your age.

Needing a gift for the person who has everything? The Charm Factory is definitely the place to go. As you can see, the bracelet above is what I designed for myself. I included mom charms, cooking charms, computer charms, and my kids birthstones (just to name a few)  The Charm Factory site definitely has something for everyone on there!  It was hard to decide which ones to use!  Each charm is made from .925 sterling silver and is nickel and lead free.  What surprised me the most was how lightweight my bracelet is.  I don’t even notice that it’s on my wrist.  I have noticed that I’ve had a lot of people ask me where I got my bracelet from;  it’s definitely an ice catcher!    I am also impressed, because this bracelet actually fits my wrist.  I have tiny wrists (my five year old and I can share bracelets), and I was able to make this small enough so that it doesn’t fall off my wrist.

What Color Is Your Brain describes our personality types using four colors in a packed, fast, fun-filled book that is easy to read and understand.  We get to learn from Sheila Glazov’s stories and anecdotes from her workshops that were conducted for major corporations and organizations all over the world how to better understand our co-workers, bosses, children, spouses, and any others you spend time with.

The colors are based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (which is a well-known and well-used personality assessment that’s based on Dr Carl Jung’s four personality functions. If you need a gift for all the cat lovers in your life, Purry Logic is it! This books is all about cats.  Now, I personally am not the cat lover in this house.  However, I have two little ones who absolutely adore cats.  Needless to say, they loved this book.  The book is well illustrated with different kinds of cats on each page.  Each cat is doing its own thing and has its own saying next to it like “what canary?” and “I know you are happy to see me . . . just open the can”.  Even a non-cat lover enjoyed this book and laughed at a lot of the sayings.  They definitely got a cat’s personality down to a tee.  This works great in my house because the book is short and holds both of my kids attention.
