Eebee’s Bath Time Adventure is a pretty cool book. You are actually able to take it into the tub with you! You are able to follow along in the story and press certain things to hear the book squeak at you or what a sponge sounds like. When you submerge the book, you now are able to use the same thing so squirt water.
All About Me & You is another hit with my son Will. There is a mirror in the back of the book. The mirror alone makes my son laugh. Each page of the book has directions like make a funny face into the mirror or give a kiss. It has then touch their nose and finding their tummy too. It is an extremely interactive book that will bring hours of giggle time to you home. This book is also made out of carboard so, you don’t have to worry about your kids destroying it.
Eebee’s Laundry Time Adventures is an excellent cloth book that works on words, sounds, and textures. There are some fine motor skills that get worked on too. The book has you taking the towels out of the laundry bag and putting them in the washer among other things that you do when you are doing the laundry. I think I may have had just as much fun as Will with this book (don’t tell anyone).
Since Will loves to play peek-a-boo, eebee’s Peek-a-Boo Adventures was another hit in our house also. This cloth activity book was again fun for both Will and me. This book has eebee hiding in all sorts of places for us to play peek-a-boo with him.
At 18 months, it is really hard to find toys and books geared towards his age, and the eebee adventure books really do that. We have had a blast with these books, and I can only recommend that everyone pick up a set.
This is another unique toy from Oh! Toys. I think my husband was just as excited to play with this as Madison. This too is for ages 3 and up. However, this does come with marbles, so if you have kids younger than three, you need to be very careful (the rule here is that Madison can’t play with this unless Will is napping).
Again, this is another toy that I like, because it makes my kids think. It requires them to think and do problem solving using creativity. There are no bells and whistles; yet, Madison played with this for a good two hours the first day we took it out of the box. Basically, what you do is make a track for the marble to work its way down. Right now, Madison is making pretty basic tracks with it. However, daddy did help her make a more intricate system like this one:
Also, clean up is awesome. All of these pieces fit nicely into a bag that comes with it! You don’t have to worry about how you are going to get all the pieces back in perfectly so you can close the box. I also love that this is a toy that Madison can grow into. Right now, she is only making very basic designs. However, as she gets older, I know her designs will get more intricate. This will also make it through the wear and tear of several children too. Well, the first question you need to ask yourself is how fast do you type? Personally, I type pretty darn fast (over 70 wpm). However, what Dragon Naturally Speaking does for you is allows you to talk, and it types what you say. You do need to “say” the paragraph breaks and punctuation. However, you end up with typing 150 words per minute! Most people I know cannot type that fast! It makes it much easier to generate more content in less time too. I know when I am composing a post like this I am actually saying the words in my head anyway. However, my head works faster than my fingers. That is why I love this product. Do you do podcasts? You can use Dragon to convert your podcasts into a transcript that you can also post on your site! There are just so many uses that I can come up with for this. I know people who use this and absolutely loved it including the New York times (click here for the NY Times Review of DNS10). Some other uses include people with disabilities such as dyslexia and even people with carpal tunnel who can’t type anymore.
