If you have little ones in your house, check out Baby Rodenburg. This DVD teaches you child sign language, A-B-C’s, numbers, colors, and animals. The DVD was a huge hit here. Madison (my 4 year old) is learning sign language in preschool, so she loved the reinforcement. My son who is 15 months loved it due to the music and seeing other babies. I am not sure if he really “understood” any of the sign language. Mom like it, because I got to actually learn some sign language (like how to sign eat) that is actually quite useful at my house.
My only complaint about the DVD is that it seems a bit disorganized at times. I wish they correlated the signing to whichever letter they were on. Meaning, when they did the sign for eat, I think they should have been talking about the letter E. That being said, they really reinforced each sign and what it means using several different ways. As each thing was signed, Madison often repeated the sign several times and repeated the word that went with the sign. Will danced with the music and pointed to the screen and said “seeeeeee” every time an animal, baby, or toddler was on.
This DVD was created by a set of parents who couldn’t find any DVDs out there that fit their needs for their child. Instead of complaining, they made their own DVD to use with their own child and to share with the rest of us!

The CareBears Dance ‘n Play Piano has been a huge hit in my house with both my kids. Madison (my four year old) doesn’t play with it too much anymore, but my 15 month old still enjoys it. The piano plays three different songs, and has different settings. It also lights up when you press the keys, and the Care Bears dance which makes my son laugh. It is a tad on the loud side, so you may want to check your health insurance and have your hearing checked if you think its quiet. :) If you want a great introduction to music for your little one, this is a great toy for that.

Often when we are in the doctor’s office, we see Highlights. For many of your who are in my age range, we all pretty much remember Highlights. It is one of the few magazines that is for children and is educational. My only issue with Highlights is that it is for old kids, and I have younger ones. When I found out that Highlights now makes High Five, I was estatic. High Five is for preschool age children, and it is a huge hit in my house. When Madison’s magazine comes, she literally will spend an hour flipping through it herself on the chair. That is even before we sit down together to do some of the activities! I love that it is right at her level. You aren’t going to find a small business for sale or a crossword puzzle. Instead, there are stories and activities that you can do with with your children. In my latest issue, we learned how to make bathtub crayons and chocolate covered bananas.
If you are needing a gift for a preschool age child or have on yourself, make sure you subscribe to High Five. It is the only magazine I have seen on the market for that age group, and you know it is quality since it is made by Highlights!

Touch and Feel: 1, 2, 3 is another book in our house that is a huge hit. Any cardboard books that make it through two kids definitely get a thumbs up from me. This book teaches both counting and different textures to your kids. Though out of all textures, I have to say that the ten sticky cherries has to be the favorite texture for both my kids. You can also feel the texture of rough sandcastle and a snake too (sorry, no nice and soft baby bedding)! If you you need a great book for a little boy or girl, this is one you should get!

Back in April, I wrote a review on the That Baby CD and DVD. They both are still a huge hit in my house. The part I love most about the songs that are on there is that they aren’t kid songs. You won’t find yourself climbing the walls with some sing songy tunes. These are covers written by some of the best artists of our time: Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Natalie Merchant, The Beatles, and The Pretenders. You will find yourself singing along with a lot of these songs. This CD is played every time Will goes to bed (naptime or nighttime). That is how great I think this is!
Now, they are sure you are going to love this DVD and CD. If you don’t, they have a money back guarantee. They also offer free replacement of scratched or damaged discs too. (This is worth its weight in gold!). For those of us who want to be enviromentally friendly, they are made in the US with recyclable materials. If you do purchase them, free shipping and handling in the US (you all know how much I adore free shipping!) Also, if you need it quickly for a baby shower or birthday that you forgot about, call them. They will figure something out to get it to you in time! How awesome is that customer service?
Now, I have kept in touch with the awesome company who makes these unique baby gifts, and the owner agreed to give away a copy of the That Baby DVD and CD away to one of my lucky readers!!! This contest will be open to all my readers. To quote the owner: “Kids around the world need to rock, so we’re open to all of them!” I am going to run it until the end of the month (July 31st) till 8 PM CST. So what do you need to do to enter?
Each one of these give you one entry:
1. Leave a comment on this post. I want to know which song you think you’ll like the best. You are able to actually listen snippets of each song right on That Baby DVD’s site (I’ve linked the page, so you can easily find it), so that should help you make your decision. One comment only please and let me know everything you did for your entries in that comment. If you do not leave which song in your comment, your entry will not count.
2. Stumble this post. If you don’t know what Stumble Upon is, please read Lori’s post at Blogging Cents. She explains it extremely well.
