K.W. Knudsen Family’s Sensible Sippers are a huge hit in my house with both me and my kids. The kids like the taste and cartoons on them. However, mom (that would be me) loves them for a ton of other reasons. First, it is certified organic juice. Now, I don’t know about you, but I cut my kids juice. I like to add just enough juice, so there is some flavor to the water. However, the R.W. Knudsen Family Sensible Sippers does it for me already! Each box of juice is 50% certified organic juice and 50% water. With the obesity epidemic going on with our children in the country, it is good to know that each box contains 40% less calories than traditional juice boxes and has no added sugar, artificial flavors, or preservatives. They also come if 4 yummy flavors: apple, mixed berry, tropical, and banana. I also love that these boxes are small. It makes it much easier for my one year old to handle.
If you are going to give your kids juice (which I do so you’ll have no judgement from me), these juice boxes are the way to go. They are organic and truly better for your children. My kids love them (and drank 4 boxes the first day we had them in the house!). These are available at Whole Foods, so head over there and get yourself some!

If you have little ones in your house, check out Baby Rodenburg. This DVD teaches you child sign language, A-B-C’s, numbers, colors, and animals. The DVD was a huge hit here. Madison (my 4 year old) is learning sign language in preschool, so she loved the reinforcement. My son who is 15 months loved it due to the music and seeing other babies. I am not sure if he really “understood” any of the sign language. Mom like it, because I got to actually learn some sign language (like how to sign eat) that is actually quite useful at my house.
My only complaint about the DVD is that it seems a bit disorganized at times. I wish they correlated the signing to whichever letter they were on. Meaning, when they did the sign for eat, I think they should have been talking about the letter E. That being said, they really reinforced each sign and what it means using several different ways. As each thing was signed, Madison often repeated the sign several times and repeated the word that went with the sign. Will danced with the music and pointed to the screen and said “seeeeeee” every time an animal, baby, or toddler was on.
This DVD was created by a set of parents who couldn’t find any DVDs out there that fit their needs for their child. Instead of complaining, they made their own DVD to use with their own child and to share with the rest of us!

The CareBears Dance ‘n Play Piano has been a huge hit in my house with both my kids. Madison (my four year old) doesn’t play with it too much anymore, but my 15 month old still enjoys it. The piano plays three different songs, and has different settings. It also lights up when you press the keys, and the Care Bears dance which makes my son laugh. It is a tad on the loud side, so you may want to have your hearing checked if you think its quiet.
If you want a great introduction to music for your little one, this is a great toy for that.

Often when we are in the doctor’s office, we see Highlights. For many of your who are in my age range, we all pretty much remember Highlights. It is one of the few magazines that is for children and is educational. My only issue with Highlights is that it is for old kids, and I have younger ones. When I found out that Highlights now makes High Five, I was estatic. High Five is for preschool age children, and it is a huge hit in my house. When Madison’s magazine comes, she literally will spend an hour flipping through it herself on the chair. That is even before we sit down together to do some of the activities! I love that it is right at her level. There are stories and activities that you can do with with your children. In my latest issue, we learned how to make bathtub crayons and chocolate covered bananas.
If you are needing a gift for a preschool age child or have on yourself, make sure you subscribe to High Five. It is the only magazine I have seen on the market for that age group, and you know it is quality since it is made by Highlights!
