Countdown to Valentine’s Day: PlanetJill Review and Giveaway

This contest is now closed. The winner is Ann Marie Walker. Congrats!

image001When I saw the PlanetJill products, I knew I had to include them in my gift guide for Valentine’s Day. You are able to include a picture of whoever you want into their high quality products. What screams love and Valentine’s Day more than this? I am also seeing some great Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gifts with their products also. Now, the cuff links you see above are adorable. However, I want to talk about the necklace. It is high quality and the picture you can include in there is of a good size. You aren’t having to put in miniature pictures that no one can see.  My twenty month old loves these products, because he’s at the age that he loves looking at babies.  He loved that the products show him pictures of kids (be it him or not).  He kept going “see” and “ohhhhhhhhhhhhh”.  Needless to say, their products are a hit with the kids in my house too!

I personally like how highly customized these are.  You never have to worry about having the same thing as any one else ever.  They are a great conversation piece, because everyone will want to know where you got it from!  They have so many great pieces, you will have a hard time choosing what you want (I know I did!).

Since I have so many great readers, I wanted to give an early Valentine’s Day present to one of you.  See that necklace in the picture?  I have one of those to give away to a lucky winner!  Here’s what you need to do:

Polliwalks

As many of you know, we remodeled our basement this last summer, so we had some extra room in the house. We now have a huge play area for the kids. However, even though the basement itself is warm, the floor is freezing cold. We have been looking for sandals and/or slippers for Will that he wouldn’t easily be able to take off. We found the perfect match with the Polliwalks shoes. These shoes are not only cute, but extremely functional too. For the winter time, we got him the puppy dog shoes. They are super warm for him. I love that the bottoms are nonstick. We have hardwood floors upstairs which also get very cold in the winter. I can never put him in socks, because he either doesn’t leave the socks on or he slips and falls wherever he tries to go. With these shoes, he can’t easily get them off (though I can easily get them on), and he isn’t falling all over. He also is a huge puppy fan right now, so he loves them just because they are puppies.

Now, for the summer (or when we can’t find his puppy shoes), we got him the Fish Shoes. I love them. These shoes include the back straps that ensure that they stay on your little ones feet. It also makes it super easy to adjust for a custom fit for your kids’ feet. They are super easy to get on and my son has yet to try and take them off.  The fish lips change color when exposed to UV rays of the sun too!  How cool is that?  Right now, these are only in select Dillards stores and online at Zappos.com.  They will be available at all of their retailers in Jan/Feb.

Overall, I am impressed with the Polliwalks shoes that we got. They are made out of high quality material, and try as he might, my son has not figured out how to wreck them yet. They are cute and can definitely take a beating. These are shoes that will easily be passed down from kid to kid and still look great!  Now, since these are so great, I want to offer pair to one of my lucky readers!

Countdown To Christmas: Goosie Cards

Want a product that both you and child will love that is educational? Goosie Cards is just that. These are first and only flash cards that you can fully customize! They have sets already predone that you can choose from, or you can upload your own personal photos to make flashcards according to the needs of your children. I made several flashcards for Will (on top of doing a set they already have predone — they have over 150 free full color professional photos to help you design your cards too.). It is really simple to do also. You upload your pictures, label the cards how you want them to read, and then check out. That is it. I had my cards in less than a week (actually, I think it was within about 3 days!) For Will, we did some cards to help him recognize me, daddy, and Madison. It was super cute, because he immediately took Madison’s card and started kissing it. It was also very cool to see that he recognized the other items on the other cards (like the goldfish crackers). I am hoping these will help him talk or at least let us know what he wants. You can create 10, 20 or 26 custom cards and the prices range from $28 to $46. You can also buy someone a gift certificate for here also. Best of all, these are made in the US.

Goosie Cards are also being used by parents, teachers and medical professionals in the autism and special needs community. They can help children with autism to learn a variety of skills to communicate effectively in the following areas: social, emotional, sequential, memory and communication skills. There is a discount program to provide some relief in price, while providing one of the most advanced, communication learning systems on the market.

I love these cards and would highly recommend them to anyone. They are tough (Will tried to wreck them already and has not been successful yet). They also wipe clean very easily. Best of all, my kids like them.

Countdown to Christmas: Inkubook

For the person who has everything, Inkubook is another great gift for them.  I recently made one for my family, and we love it.  I made it of the kids without telling my husband.  When it was delivered today, I let him open it.  He loves it.  It was so cool looking at the kids pictures as they have grown up. There are a few things I did learn.  When it tells you the picture may not look good, it won’t.  Trust me on that.  Also, make sure your clean up your pictures (like get rid of red eye) before you send them over.  They don’t fix that. However, if you end up having any problems (I had a browser that wasn’t clearing its cache), their support staff rocks.  They talked me through fixing it.  Also, the most time consuming part of this is when they upload your pictures (which you can do from both Flickr and/or your computer — how cool is that?  You are able to custom put your pictures in too or autofill.  Now, I used the autofill, and I was still able to move around the pictures where needed.  The site is pretty easy to use and navigate.  Overall, we love our new family album and are thinking of doing this for the grandmas for Mother’s Day since I already have their Christmas presents bought.  This ends up being a great quality book that you can keep forever.

Countdown To Christmas: Signature Needle Arts

Do you have any knitters on your gift list?  If you do, you should definitely be looking at needles from Signature Needle Arts.  They have some of the nicest knitting needles on the market that are completely customizable for both you and whatever project you are working on.  You can choose the type of point – blunt, middy or stiletto; length; and custom end cap (end cap exclusive to single points).  They also have gift baskets, kits, and accessories that are perfect for any knitter.  You can even get gift certificates for the site.  Signature Needles are needles that once you start knitting with them, you’ll never want to put them down!
