If you read my other blog, you will know of the hosting issues I have had in the past. I had been using Bluehost as my hosting sevice, but due to several issues I had with them I had to change hosting companies. My first issue had to do with CPU errors. My favorite part of this was that they didn’t even know what their own reports meant! Their solution to everything was that I needed to upgrade my plan to one that costed 3 times as much a month. When I asked if that would solve my problem, the response I got was that they didn’t know. Hmm, so I should upgrade my plan, and you don’t know if that will solve my problems. I think not. I was also getting a ton of mySQL errors too. These errors often were causing my CPU issues. The only solution I got from Bluehost to resolve my issues was to delete my old blog posts and put them on a static page. I waited 2 weeks for that answer! Obviously, I would not recommend Bluehost to anyone.
Now, if you ever find yourself having the problems I was with your host, check out this webhosting blog. There is some definite wisdom to be gleaned from here like webhosting mistakes to avoid and what type of hosting you need.

Why do I love Dragon Naturally Speaking? Let me count the ways . . . .
Ok, so the video doesn’t tell you all ways I love Dragon Naturally Speaking. However, it does show you how easy it is to use the software. Literally, all you have to do is plug in a noise canceling headset to your computer and download the software. You place your cursor where you want to type and away you go. Now, you do have to train the software to your voice. I tend to talk fast, so it had to correct for that. Plus, if you find that it is typing same wrong word, you can train it on that specific word. This isn’t rocket science to figure out (which is good because I have a tendency to NOT read the books or pdf files that comes with software).
I was able to create that video while my kids were up and playing at my feet (and you can tell when they grabbed my leg, because the video starts wobbling. You can also hear them a little too.) However, I did want to show that you can still be involved in doing other things and be able to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking. This more than triples my typing speed when I am typing and dealing with my kids (Take the Dragon NaturallySpeaking typing test if you don’t know what your typing speed is). I am actually writing this blog post using the software too. Here is the official video on how this all works:
As I stated in my video, I am finding that I can get a lot more in the little snippets of time I have during the day plus I am able to get way more done at night. I love being able to go to bed before midnight. I love being able to answer emails and do blog posts when I have Will sitting on my lap drinking from his sippy and watching cartoons. I have five blogs, so being able to write more content in less time is a huge plus for me. Plus, anyone who knows me, knows I have no problems talking. I am able to do my freelance work and reports using this also. I will be recommending this to my boss. Beside blogging, I have used it to make my daily lists of what I have to do each day plus some grocery shopping lists too! I am not the only one who thinks it is great, check out this New York Times Review.
Dragon NaturallySpeaking is really for anyone who works on a computer. If you talk faster than you type, you need this. If you want to be more efficient in your work, you need this. If you just want a new toy to play with, you DEFINITELY need this. Time is money, and the time you save from using Dragon NaturallySpeaking makes it worth every penny.

I love finding new toys to put on my blogs This widget is something I am hoping to incorporate over at my travel blog shortly. However, I wanted to make sure that anyone who was interested in travel checked out this widget first!
This is Flash travel map that is very easy to embed into your site. You can display flight route information and is free to to download too. You can fully configure it so that you can show your readers a fixed departure point, fixed destination point, fixed departure and destination, or an ‘anywhere to anywhere’ open search. There are 20 languages to pick from, and it can also be added to added to iGoogle Netvibes, and your desktop.
Even though Skyscanner the most powerful and flexible flight search engine in Europe (which provides instant online price comparisons on over 300,000 flights and over 600 airlines), this maps tool widget works for the United States also. I used it to map all of the trips I took this year without any problems. When I typed Chicago into the Maps Code Wizard, I was able to pull up all three airports here (Midway, Ohare, and Rockford). This is a great way to show your readers where you are going when leaving for vacation. If you do live in Europe or have a big European readership, this is a great way for them to check prices for trips. (see Cheap Flights Map Widget)
Head over to Skyscanner and check out their maps tool widget!

Huru Humis will be one of the big gifts that everyone is going to want for Christmas this year. They are made for children ten and up. However, my 4 year old and 1 year old love them too. Each Huru Humi has its own name and distinct personality. Their interests range from sports to journalism. We have two of them, and I swear I have teenagers living in my house now. If I don’t check, Madison has been sneaking them into her bed with her at night too.
The reason I like these is that they interact with you. You are able to ask them questions, and they actually will respond to you. The other cool thing is that if you put two Huru Humis next to one another, they start talking to one another! They will have a whole conversation with or without you. These definitely teach your kids many social skills. It shows them how to have a conversation, not to interrupt, and have differing opinions. They are fairly easy to use, so kids of all ages will be able to use them. If you quite talking to them, they even try to get your attention. Another feature that my kids love is that their hair and outfits are interchangable too.
I have already seen commercials for these on, I think, Nick Jr or one of those kid stations, so you know this is going to be big. Each Huru Humi costs $29.99 and can be purchased at Walmart, Target, Kmart and Toys R Us. However, if you do not want to wait to get one of these, I was able to get not 1, not 2, but 3 of these to giveaway to my lucky readers. Now, two will be given away randomly. The third one will be randomly given away among the people who make a Huru Humi video.
Each one of these things will give you one entry:

Thank goodness for Twitter — for some reason, I thought this giveaway was for Wednesday not last night! After I tabulated all the extra entries, Random.org pulled #50 to be the winner. This is where the extra entries come in really handy because Christine won this membership with her blog post! I will be emailing her shortly!

This was my favorite newspaper. I think we have been subscribing to it since we have moved here. However, about a week ago, they changed their format. Now, I have went through several format changes with them already. However, this one, I cannot stand. I cannot stand it to the point that I will be leaving them and getting a subscription to another area newspaper. (The advantage of living in Chicago is that we have quite a few to pick from).
This makes me sad. However, the changes that have been made this time around I just cannot stand. The majority of their articles completely blend with the ads for things like fat burners and real estate. As a blogger, we got a lot of slack for not disclosing what is paid and what isn’t. However, it doesn’t look the print media has to have the same standard. The majority of the articles have huge pictures and less content. I know it is not just my eyes playing tricks on me either. It actually takes me quite a bit less time to read the paper everyday. A lot of the articles also look like blog posts with the amount of stuff on the page. If I wanted to look at something that looked like a blog, I would read my news online. I personally love having a print paper in my hand. I like the style and how informative a paper is. If I want a synopsis, I go to the internet. If I want to read full articles, I look for my local paper.
As soon as I find my credit card, I will be canceling my Chicago Tribune subscription and signing up for the Chicago Sun Times. Hopefully, their paper will be less tabloidy and more news.

I personally have a lot on my plate. I am a mom, a freelancer, and a blogger with 5 blogs. My free time is limited, and now that I am getting older, I am finding that my mind is not as good as it use to be. When I saw ListPlanIt, I knew this was something I could definitely use! I swear that this site has every kind of list you could ever need (my mother would be in heaven here — she loves making lists!). I have to admit that my most favorite list had to be the grocery shopping one. It allowed me to organize my shopping list, so I wouldn’t be running all over the store finding what I need. It made me categorize each item I needed, so when I was in that department, I was able to get everything in one shot. It is amazing how something so simple can save you a lot of time. The second set of lists that I love is the time management ones. Who can’t use a little help with time management? You can do everything from a year in advance to daily routine planning. I like being to write down what reviews I want to do, so I don’t miss anything. There is even a weekly planner with meals! I am in love with the meal planning lists. There are just so many lists here, and I can find a use for almost all of them! I literally could go on and on and on.
Now, can you use website that will help you organize your life? (Seriously, who can’t?) If so, I have the best giveaway for you. ListPlanIt will give the winner a Quarterly Membership to their site to check it out. Once you start using these lists, you will find it addicting. What do you need to do to win?
Each one of these things will give you one entry:
1. Leave a comment on this post. I want to know which lists you think you would use the most.
2. Twitter about this contest. Please leave me your username so I can verify.
3. Stumble this post. If you don’t know what Stumble Upon is, please read Lori’s post at Blogging Cents. She explains it extremely well.
