There aren’t too many kids out there who haven’t heard of Snow White. However, Snow White: A Tale from the Brothers Grimm is a version I hadn’t heard before.  The story is still the same, but there are little details that the Grimm brothers added that you don’t hear when it gets retold.  That being said, the illustrations in this book are top notch.  Charles Santore illustrated that book, and I can see why he has won numerous awards.  You almost don’t need the words on the page to tell the story; the pictures do it for you!  Another detail this book has (which I found pretty cool) was a ribbon marker, so you don’t lose your page.  I wish more books had that!  This book is for ages 6 – 9, and I would recommend it to add to your home library!

How does 1+1=5? That’s what this book sets out to tell you (let’s just say it involves a set of triplets and a set of twins).  My six year old loves this book, because it requires you to think outside the box.  Each page has an equation on it with a picture, and you have to figure out how to make that equation work.  For example, on the first page of the book it says 1+1=3.  How do you get that?  1 unicorn plus one goat equals three horns!  Some of these equations will require a parents help (at least if your kids are as little as mine).  However, we had a blast reading this.  I loved how it got even my brain working overtime.  The pictures will make you laugh, and the answers will always make you laugh.

1+1=5 is a great addition to our home library and I can definitely see this being used in the classroom. Two thumbs up here!

I learned something when we got our new puppy Daisy — they go to the bathroom. A lot. Potty training is very hit and miss (kinda like kid potty training!). For those times there are accidents in your home, Clean+Green is the product you need. This book is about a big time adventure that a little chimp has. Little Chimps Big Day is about what happens when the branch he’s on snaps and all the wonderful things he sees.  Though he is having fun, the Little Chimp keeps asking “where could mother be?”  The best part?  My three year didn’t catch this, but my six year old did — Little Chimp’s mom had an eye on him the whole time!

This book is both entertaining and comforting to kids.  I love that the verses on each page rhyme which definitely helps keep the little ones entertained.  The illustrations are also quite good.  You don’t even need the words on the page to tell you what is going on!  That is how good they are.  I love how this encourages independence, but lets our little ones know that mom and dad are always watching.
