Microsoft Office Live

As a person who works from home, I like products like Microsoft Office Live.  If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know that I had a smashed laptop last week.  I won’t get into how long it took me to recover my data and reinstall on my new computer.  When you use products like Microsoft Office Live, you are able to save your data online, so you won’t have these problems.  You can access your documents from any computer.  No need for flash drives or hoping your backup program saved your data.  You can store up to 5GB or data.  As a person who works from home, I love that I can share it with anyone, and they can work with you on the document.  I also love that you can  Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint files from your Web browser.  I never know what programs my coworkers have, and this certainly solves that problem.  Best of all?  This is free.  Yes, I said free.  You can try it out, use it with your coworkers, and find that nothing out there matches this great program!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Microsoft Office Live. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Norton Online Family

logo-norton-from-symantecWe are a family that uses Norton on all of their computers, so I when I heard about Norton Online Family I knew I wanted to check it out.  For parents out there who need an easy way to see what their kids are doing online, Norton Online Family is what you need.  You can easily set up an account online and profiles for each of your family members.  You can easily check with an internet connected device you child’s activity or even change their profile.  All sites they visit are in chronological order and don’t include any popup ads they may encounter.  You can even see what words and phrases are being used for searches.  It even tracks personal information that your child may send out via email and social networks.  You can monitor their activity on social networks such as mySpace and Facebook.  Though I do have to admit my favorite part of this program is that the “house” rules are always visible to your children.  There is no guessing what is and isn’t okay.  It is outlined for them in black and white.

If this sounds like something you need at your house, they, for a short time, are offering a beta test.  You can sign up and try this out for yourself at no cost to you!  What do you have to lose besides making your kids safer?

Virtual Baby Shower: Muvee

Every new mom must get their hands on Muvee software. Not only is it easy to use, but you can make home movies from your photos, videos, and music that you already have. You can easily customize your movie with voiceovers, titles, captions, and credits. It easily transfers HD videos from AVCHD and HDV camcorders. Muvee also has awesome editing tools. It has automatic face detection, brightness, color correction, red eye reduction, image sequencing, and so much more. You can even preview your work on the full screen! I love the one click transfers to get your photos and videos too. It really can’t be any more easy. It is also very easy to take your movie and transfer it to your ipod, PSP, cell phone, or even to a DVD. Unlike anything else out there, you are even able to share your video privately. No more having to upload your videos to You Tube, so you can show your family your hard work. They have their own site, and in once click, you can import your video there. It is great, because you can import, export, and share your videos, photos and muvees. Your friends and family can even contribute their own photos and videos to your album!

This is a great gift for the tech savvy mom who would like to easily keep and store their memories.

Didi & Ditto Preschool “Mother Nature’s Visit”

didiDidi & Ditto Preschool Mother Natural Visit was designed for the 2-4 age group.  Madison just turned 5 in January, and I have been having her play this game.  She loves it!

This is one of the few games on the market for the younger age set.  However, it is seriously geared for them.   This is one of the few games we have that Madison does not need any help playing at all.  The graphics of this are awesome.  It is like watching a cartoon while you are playing this game.  The game keeps your children completely immersed in the story.  There is  story component to this game, and they also play games.  Each last a perfect amount of time, so your child isn’t getting lost and bored with it.  Madison has one of the shortest attention spans ever, and she likes this game.  If the player guesses wrong on a question, it gives them hints and lets them keep picking until they get it right.  I found that Madison wasn’t getting frustrated at all even if she was getting the answer wrong.  She plays this game over and over, so she truly like it.

This is a great game for the younger age set.  It will hold their attention span, and they will enjoy playing it.  I highly recommend it.

The Princess Bride

princess-brideMy brother in law’s most favorite movie of all time is The Princess Bride, so he was very jealous when he found out we got The Princess Bride game. This game works both on PCs and Macs, so everyone can play it.  If you have even seen the movie, you will love this game.  It stays true to the movie, and you’ll find yourself laughing with the game.  The animtion in the game is awesome too.  The best part is that there are 5 seperate games in here.  I love that you are able to go through and play what you are best at.  I personally loved the Time Management games and could play those all night.  There is also inconceivable trivia, puzzle transformer, hidden objects, and inventory and collection assembly.  This game is easy to find yourself playing and then it is three hours later!  It is rated E for everyone, and Madison (who is 4) was able to play a lot of it (some of it with some help).  If you are looking for a great unique gift this holiday season, I would recommend this game.
