The Adventures Of Elmo In Grouchland

The Adventures Of Elmo in Grouchland is one of cutest kids movies I have seen a while. Elmo won’t share his blanket with Zoe (his friend) and ends up losing it in Oscar’s can. He journeys to Grouchland to get back his blanket and along the way he learns a lot about taking others feelings into consideration. Huxley (the villain) has his blanket, along with a lot of other things that don’t belong to him and Elmo tries to get his blanket back. It definitely teaches the kids about sharing without them even realizing it. It is a little over an hour, so it perfect for little ones attention spans. There are even a few jokes thrown in there for the adults! However, this is truly a kids movie. You don’t have to worry about diet pills or adult language here. It is a Sesame Street classic with all the gang.

Super Fly Guy

Super Fly Guy is a fun book all kids should have. It has the some of cutest illustrations as you can tell from the cover of the book. Madison likes it and giggles every time we read it. The story is about a fly called Fly Guy and a little boy called Buzz. Buzz takes Fly Guy to school and you get to read all about it. Fly Guy doesn’t land on the teak furniture. Instead, he lands in the lunch room which leads to all sorts of chaos. If you want to find out what happens from here, you’ll have to read the book.

Mia Reading

Mia Reading is a computer game that Madison has been trying out for me. The age on it is 5-9, so she is tad young for it. That being said, we played it on the easiest setting. The first thing I was impressed with is the animation. It is highly detailed. My adult games aren’t done this well. You can control Mia by using either the keyboard or the mouse. This is good since Madison likes to use both. The goal of the level we were playing was that she had to direct Mia to find various items. Sometimes she would have to play various games to get the item. I had to help her a little. However, I did expect to have to help her a lot more than I did. She was able to locate most of the items without my help. Madison loved this game. We actually had to pry my laptop out of hands to get her to quit playing it. It completely held her attention, and I loved that it was educational. I would highly recommend this game to your little ones.

Huggies CleanTeam Products

The first product of the Huggies Clean Team products that we recently tried are the moist wipes. Madison isn’t too sure about them yet. However, mommy does like them. They are soft and have a great smell to them. I love that they are flushable. I can definitely seeing this being a product used often in our house.

Another Clean Team product that I am absolutely loving is the foaming hand soap.  I like the foaming, because Madison likes it.  It helps her to wash her hands, because she thinks its more fun.  It is also scented.  I am not sure what the scent is, but it definitely smells good.  I wouldn’t mind washing my hands a few times more using this.  The top of the bottle is a hippo, so Madison giggles when she sees it.  I loving that you can lock it, so your kids won’t use the whole bottle up in one day.

The last Clean Team product that we tried was the extra conditioning shampoo.  Again, this product smells awesome.  The shape of the bottle is a little different, but it actually makes it much easier to grip especially when it is wet.  This is a no tear shampoo, and Madison enjoyed using it.

The next time you are in need of cleaning products for your kids you should definitely check out the Huggies Clean Team products.  They are working great in my family.

Frosted Flakes Gold

Frosted Flakes Gold is a new cereal we tried at my house over the last week or so. Instead of the flakes being covered in sugar (and who needs more sugar in their lives), the flakes are covered in honey and made from whole grains.  I’ll be honest though — unless you are real honey lover, you probably are not going to like these. That being said, my daughter loves these. Not only has she been eating a bowl of this every morning (by her request), she also requests these as a snack almost daily! This has been an instant hit in my house! I have never had Madison devour a box of cereal so quickly. If you have kids in your house, this is a must get cereal for you!

That Baby CD and DVD

I swear it gets harder and harder to find quality programs and cds for our kids that won’t drive us (parents) up the wall. That Baby CD and That Baby DVD is the answer. It is extremely hard to keep both kids entertained while watching something. However, That Baby DVD did its job. Will just stared at the tv in wonderment, and Madison danced while the songs played (Will did a little dancing of his own too). The first thing that Bill and I noticed was that we recognized a lot of the songs on here. These are covers of songs by Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Natalie Merchant, The Beatles, The Pretenders, just to name a few. The second thing we noticed was that songs were sung for the kids and toned down. However, they weren’t completely kidified, so that you feel like pulling your hair out and covering your ears. I can’t tell you how many of those kinds of CDs (I know we all have them) that we listened to once and never again. That Baby CD is what Will listens to at night. We use to have a classical CD playing in his room all night. It is the same CD we used for Madison, so we happily replaced it with That Baby CD. He sleeps with it just fine, and I sometimes catch myself singing with it when I change his diaper (shhhh, don’t tell anyone). Both the DVD and CD have gotten a lot of play in my house. This ranks high on my list of things all mothers should have.

Now, if this is something that you want to get your family, I have a coupon code that you can use to save 20% on your entire order when you order from the The Baby DVD website. It is “MotherTalk”. Also, any orders from now till May 18th that use the coupon code will be entered in a drawing to win a new iPod nano. Now, who couldn’t use one of those? Something for you, something for the kids . . .you can’t go wrong.

Girly Things

Did you know that you can make your own hair bows?  I didn’t.  I also didn’t know that there were people out there who wanted to charge you absurd amounts of money just to show you how to make them yourselves (kind of defeats the purpose, doesn’t it?).  Well, my friend Angie didn’t agree with this and felt that this information should be free for all.  (She’s a single mom, so the fact that she doesn’t charge for this awesome warehouse of information still floors me.)  That is why she created Girly Things.  This site has instruction of how to make pretty much any hair bow you could ever want at no charge.  Her site is super easy to navigate and find exactly what you want.  I think I could even manage the step by step instructions and not manage to mess it up.  Madison isn’t into anything in her hair yet, but I know plenty of girly girls that would love this site.  Go check it out and you too can be making your own bows from home!
