Ever wonder if your children’s behavior is normal? Ever wonder about how to handle certain situations (like a spider bite for example)? I know I look for advice from other moms on these kinds of things. A great place to get answers like these is Mamapedia. This is place where you can ask other moms questions and get their answers. I even learned what I should do for the spider bite I got over the weekend (several moms suggest taping a penny on it. I figure it can’t hurt anything). I love that we can help one another out and learn new things in the process.
The site is one of the easiest one’s out there to navigate. You can even see what other moms are searching for in real time! Taken right from the site, Mamapedia is:
For mothers with kids of all ages
Questions by moms, answered by moms who’ve been there
Over a million answers on everything from Acne to Zoos
Easily searchable and browsable
Updated daily
100% free
I would highly recommend that all moms check it out!
One of the newest ways out there to promote your product is to use sponsored conversations. If you aren’t sure what a sponsored conversation is, watch this video:
Now, does this really work? Having used this in my work and for my own personal blogs, I would have to say yes. It is a great way to get your product (or for me, blog) if front of eyeballs you wouldn’t normally. Word of mouth marketing is one of the most powerful marketing tactics. As a mom, I am more inclined to listen to another mother myself. Before I buy most of our big ticket items, I do a search for reviews on it. I am not the only one either.
From my own personal experience, I highly recommend sponsored conversations if you are looking to get more eyeballs on your products or your blogs.
Madison is now 5, but she’s been online for quiet a while. She actually knows how to use a computer better than her grandmothers! My fear with letting her on sites like Playhouse Disney and Noggin is that it is super easy for her to end up where she shouldn’t be. She has often clicked things she shouldn’t. My fear has always been that somehow she will get herself on a porn site. The other problem we have is that if she ends up back on the desktop she ends up renaming files on us. She’s actually just trying to get back to where she is, but it can be messy at times.
Now, the Kido’z Browser takes care of all the problems you’ll have when you let your little ones online. The system blocks links, scripts, and any other attempts that lead to sites and content which have not been approved, preventing them being viewed by the children. The parental control account is a parents only, password protected area which allows the parents to manage their kid’s account and content. Now all content is sent through their moderators. However, you are able to adjust what your kids see. You can also easily add content like websites and videos (which for us is great because there is some great stuff on YouTube). The really cool part of that is that you can share what you added. The content will be added (after moderation) to the public content stream and others will have access to what you added! As you can see from the picture to the left also, it is super easy for the kids to navigate. They don’t have to be able to read to use this browser either(which is great in my house!).
Best of all, this browser is free. It is a free download and comes with no spyware and no adware. You can easily protect your kids, and it won’t break the bank for you! If you have little ones in your house (like me) who use the computer, I highly recommend trying this out.
When looking for a new host for your website or your blog, make sure you do your research. Not all hosting companies are created equal. My needs (since I have 5 blogs) may be completely different than yours. I personally have only used two hosts (bluehost and hostgator), so I can only give you my experience with those. I have helped people with their blogs on other hosts and can give a limited opinion on those. However, you can’t always go by one person. That is where sites like Web Hosting Geeks come into play. You are able to see how real people voted on the various hosts. I personally can’t stand Bluehost (they told me to take my old blog posts and put them on a static page which basically defeats the purpose of a blog). However, they do get some good reviews. Again, it depends on what you need. If you leave a review, it does actually get posted to the site! I left one a while back, and I see it on the Bluehost reviews. If you leave feedback, it does get used! I would definitely check them out if you are looking for hosting. They are a great place to start your research.
With everything being on the internet nowadays, it really seems like you need a password for almost everything you do. Now, for security reason, you should not use the same password twice, make it with both numbers and letters, and you should change your passwords at least every six months. I don’t know about you, but I belong to several places that I need passwords for, and it is seriously hard to figure out how to keep it all straight. This is where the Internet Password Organizer comes to the rescue. Why should you use the Internet Password Organizer? First, no one can hack into it on you. Nothing is worse than having your computer compromised and the hackers being able to get into everything. This provides you with a single centralized location in which to store all your online account login information, and the tabbed sheets makes it super easy to find what you are looking for. Also, I have had my hard drive fail. If that is the only place you have your passwords saved, you are in big trouble. This notebook is also very discrete. Without opening it, most people won’t even know what’s in it. It also is better than sticky notes all over your computer monitor (now, I know lots of people who do this). There is even sections that allow you to put in your ISP information, your email settings, your wireless network and router information, and any software licenses you have.
Now, I know a lot of you are wanting one of these, so I will be giving one of these to two lucky winners! Here’s what you need to do:
