Rainbow Brite

If you are a girl (and around my age), Rainbow Brite is definitely a character that you remember from your childhood.  I recently learned that there is an entire site devoted to Rainbow Bright and the gang.  It was awesome to introduce my 6 year old to Rainbow Brite and watch her have a ton of fun with it.  Not only does the site have 4 animated episodes on it, there are games, puzzles, coloring pages, etc on it.  You kids can easily get lost for hour in it!  (I know Madison was!).  Even more exciting than the new site is that the newest Rainbow Brite fashion doll collection is now available at Target stores and should be arriving to Toys R Us this month!

Rainbow Brite is a character that you don’t have to worry about your children watching.  She is wholesome, beautiful, and the stories are great for little girls to watch.  I highly recommend checking her out and even picking up a doll (I’m checking right now to see if my local Target has them!).

We Cheer 2

wecheerLove cheerleading? Want a great workout? Then you need to play We Cheer 2. This game definitely has a little something for everyone. You can choose the training mode (to learn the moves), exercise mode, championship mode, or even the multiplayer mode. You can customize your squad, so they look exactly how you want.  The wii controllers become your poms poms as you jump, kick, and dance to the routines.  I learned from playing that I am no where near as coordinated as I thought I was.  After the first time you play it, your arms will feel like they should fall off (at least mine did).  This game also comes with a great soundtrack too.

We Cheer 2 is a fun game for any age.  You will definitely have hours and hours of fun with this game.

Cook Or Be Cooked

cookEver wanted to cook without the mess? Want to learn some new cooking techniques?  Food Network’s new game Cook or Be Cooked allows you to do just that.  You can work on all of your cooking skills without the cleanup!  It’s great for everyone from moms to kids to single guys.  The 30 recipes you make in the game can be made in your kitchen too (unfortunately with the cleanup).  There is even a multiplayer option, so you can show who’s king of the kitchen (they also have a cooperative mode tool but what fun is that?  LOL).

This is a fun game to play, and I love that the skills I have learned playing can also be used in my kitchen.  The added plus is that the recipes are really good too (and they are things you’d actually make)!  This is one time that there won’t be too many cooks in the kitchen!

Nancy Drew: Warnings at Waverly Academy

nancy derwHaving grown up on Nancy Drew, I love that they’ve come out with a whole line of games that incorporate her into it. It’s great seeing a girl with strong self esteem and brains. I love that my daughter has a strong character to look up to.  This game has you going to a prep school (and all that entails like cramming for tests and cliques.  You even have a cell phone that’s equipped with a camera.) while you are solving a mystery.  Nancy Drew’s job is to find out who is responsible for the pranks that have been occurring.  You quickly learn that the pranks are being targeted against valedictorian candidates.  My favorite feature of this game is that if you manage to get yourself killed, you automatically start over at the point you made your fatal mistake.  This game is rated E for everyone.  It has two difficulty settings (Jr or Sr Detective), so almost anyone can play this.

Nancy Drew:  Warnings at Waverly Academy is a great game to try out and play.  It’ll make a great affordable Christmas gift!  (You can even check at Waverly Academy on their website and on Nancy Drew’s Twitter account.)

You’ve Been Sentenced

sentanced1-160x300A great fun game to play with your family has to be You’ve been Sentenced! It’s for 8 and up, but with some help, even your new reader can play it.  Each player gets 10 cards.  You take your ten cards and make a sentence that makes sense.  Your sentence then goes to the jury — that is, your fellow players.  You have to justify why it makes sense to score.  Some of the sentence you are forced to make up are pretty funny.  It really makes you think fast and having to justify your sentence makes you have to think even faster!  The game comes with 540 cards that are five sided, so you have hours and hours of unique games ahead of you!  If you manage to make it through all of the cards, there are even add on decks!  You can add on the Reader’s Digest National Word Power Challenge, Gourmet Cuisine, Pop Culture (this is our personal favorite), Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and Sports Highlights.

You’ve Been Sentenced is a game that is fun for any child or adult who can read!
