I volunteer at a place that gives free food and clothing for people with emergency needs, and I interview the people that come in for help. Sometimes it just takes one bad thing happening in some of these people's lives, and then it's a snowball effect. Maybe their car breaks down and they don't have money to fix it. They can't get to work because they don't have transportation and then they lose their job. Many have health problems and life is hard for them or they're elderly who can't make it on a fixed income. We help, on average, 200 families a month so we see some sad situations!

Modest Needs is such an awesome project! Sometimes you just need a tiny little boost and it can be hard to get that if you're in the middle income range. I like that they check things so people don't take advantage of it like some other charities.
