Squirt Blurt 02.09.10

Do your kids say funny things? I know mine do.  Some of the dandies have to include one on the way to Green Bay (right before a really bad storm came through) that went something like this:

Dad:  I wonder where all the cows went

Madison(my 6 yr old):  Maybe somebody ate them

Or when Madison was three (maybe 4) and she told me her camp counselor should go to jail because he opened up her fruit snacks and forgot to give them back to her.  There is just so many zingers they come up with, and that is where Squirt Blurt comes in.  Squirt Blurt is a place for you to share the innocent, unfiltered and sometimes blunt observations of the world made by children (and there are many, many, many funny ones on there).  The site is free, so feel free to share all you want.  It is also family friendly, so you won’t find anything that should offend you either.  You can also comment, like, fav, etc. the stories you like best!

Squirt Blurt is awesome for a great laugh.  It’s also a great place to share the quirky and funny things your kids say.  I do recommend a box of tissues though — you’ll start crying from laughing so hard at some of these!  I’m currently wiping away tears, and I can’t even pick my favorite one because there are so many good ones.  Head on over and tell me your favorite!

Dinosaur Books 01.09.10

Will and I came across some great dinosaur books we have to pass along. Will currently loves anything dinosaur, so these were a great hit in our house.
First, we have Dinosaur Numbers.  This book had us counting dinosaurs one through ten.  Each page has a different number with great illustrations.  The illustrations make my three year old giggle, so they are a hit.  (We especially like #2).  Each page (as the number goes up) also adds a dinosaur.  This book is great for a three year old, but was also nice for my six year old who is learning to read!

The next book is Dinosaur Opposites. This was another book that made my three year old giggle, and he loves it. Each set of pages has opposite words on it like short and long and weak and strong. The illustrations in this book are just as good.  Again, this is great for the younger crowd, but also for beginner readers.

If your kids like dinosaurs, these two books are a must read for them!  They are short with great illustrations that will hold almost any attention span.  They are also board books, so they can’t be destroyed!

I Rescue Rover 31.08.10

Ever wanted to buy a T-shirt that gives back? Now, you can! I Rescue Rover allows you to buy super cute T-shirts for both you, your kids, and/or you dog. As you can see, there are many designs and colors to choose from. The shirts are super soft and super easy to wash too. Best of all, a portion of the proceeds from each sale is donated to various animal rescue and welfare organizations. Think of it this way, every time you buy a tee, you’re helping save the life of an animal!

The company’s tag line is “Be Good, Do Good, Buy Good, Feel Good”. Founder and artist, Paula Bonham, fuses her arts background into all of her I Rescue Rover graphics, so that the resulting imagery not only has a high-end look but is available at an affordable price. Made from organic cotton bamboo and other eco-friendly fabrics, these t-shirts start at just $32.00!

My kids absolutely adore the T-shirts they got.  I can’t tell you how many people stop us and tell us how cute these shirts are either (and they want to know where we got them from!).  These are a definite two paws up!  (We got a shirt for Daisy too but I didn’t get a picture of her in it yet!).

Overstock 30.08.10

I love to shop.  What I love even more than shopping is saving money.  If I can combine the two, my life is good!  Who doesn’t like a good sale or a shop that just always has great prices?

When Bill lost his wedding band (and then didn’t bother to tell me), he should have checked out the diamond rings that Overstock has. He could have easy (and cheaply might I add) replaced his wedding band, and I would have never have known.  Instead, he conveniently forgot to tell me for two years, and we paid two arms and a leg to replace it! With the money he could have saved, he could have gotten me a nice piece of jewelry to make it all better!  Instead, he ended up with an unhappy wife and a credit card bill!

Think he would mind if I picked up something like this for myself:

The sapphires match my wedding band, and it would make up for the lost ring, right?  :)

Dressing Your Truth Review and Giveaway 29.08.10

Have you ever wondered why you have a closet full of clothes you never wear?  If so, you need to read Dressing Your Truth:  Discover Your Personal Beauty Profile.  This book is written by acclaimed alternative psychotherapist and fashion/beauty expert Carol Tuttle.  This book details and identifies for types of women based on physical features, personality, and psychological profiles.  This book will allow you to stop the negative self talk in fitting rooms, stop buying clothes and accessories that you won’t wear, learn the tools to what looks best on you, learn to refashion your existing wardrobe, and learn to trust your instincts.  Once you learn your type, you can make better fashion designs.

I liked this book.  Though I saw a bit in myself in all the types (which is typical for a type 1), I think I am a type 1.  I also learned that I am dressing completely wrong for my type!  I learned that black isn’t a color I shouldn’t be leaning on (and I’d say 3/4 of my clothes are black).  I loved that she included stories of others who have gone through this process.  There were some before and after pictures too!  Any book that helps you learn more about yourself is an A+ in my book.

Since I enjoyed this book so much, I would like for one of my lucky readers to get a copy of it for themselves.  Here’s what you need to do:

Tell me what type you think you are:

Type 1: The Bright, Animated Woman (think Ellen DeGeneres)
Type 2: The Subtle, Soft Woman (think Julia Roberts)
Type 3: The Rich, Dynamic Woman (think Michelle Obama)
Type 4: The Bold, Striking Woman (think Demi Moore)
